BCBG Bag

In 1989, after living in the United States for just eight years, Max Azria founded BCBGMAXAZRIA GROUP. With an extensive history of designing women’s wear in Paris, Azria had come to the United States to expand his fashion horizons and eventually create what would become a global empire.

The name, “BCBG”, is taken from an old French expression, “bon chic, bon genre”, a backhanded compliment implying that someone is distinguished yet bordering on snobby. Literally, it means “good style, good attitude”. However, it is a common joke in France that it actually stands for “beau cul, belle gueule”, which roughly translates into “nice butt, beautiful face”.

Today, Azria’s BCBG bags are among the most envied on the market. Routinely carried by several of Hollywood’s A-list celebrities, BCBGMAXAZRIA bags often come with a rather hefty price tag. Rachel Bilson, Hillary Duff, Beyoncé Knowles, Kate Bosworth, and several other elite women of Hollywood have expressed their affection for BCBG bags.

In addition to BCBGMAXAZRIA, Max Azria’s empire includes twenty-one other brands, including BCBGMAXAZRIA Runway, BCBGeneration, BCBGirls, and several other well-known and successful brands.
