Hermes Birkin Handbag

Hermès International, S.A. is a French high fashion house that has been around since 1837. Specializing in leather, ready-to-wear, perfumery, and lifestyle accessories, Hermès is responsible for some of the most desirable luxury fashion goods that money can buy. The duc carriage with horse logo is the world famous staple of Hermès.

It wasn’t until 1922 that the first leather Hermès bags were introduced. At the time, Émile-Maurice was running the company, and his wife had complained to him that she could not find one to her liking. Soon after, a whole new line of colorful Hermès handbags of all different shapes and sizes were unveiled.

Over the years, Hermès continued to expand and see substantial success. By the mid 1980s, fashionable women everywhere were either carrying or desiring the Kelly bag or the Constance clutch. Even men were becoming big fans of their products, sporting Hermès leather jackets and gabardine blazers.

By 1990, Hermès International was reporting annual profits of upwards of $460 million, with the United States accounting for only 11%. In 1993, much to the joy of investors, Hermès became an official publicly traded company on the Stock exchange. At the time, the Hermès family still held about 80% of the company’s stocks, earning Jean-Louis Dumas- Hermès as well as the entire family a place in Forbes list of billionaires.

Today, Hermès handbags remain among the most sought after luxury accessories in the world. Since the retiring of Jean-Louis-Dumas- Hermès in 2006, the company has been under the authority of Patrick Thomas, who worked closely with Jean-Louis prior to his departure.

A favorite among Hollywood’s most talked about celebrities, popular Hermès bags like the Hermès Birkin handbag are regularly seen being carried by stars such as Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, and Jade Pinkett Smith.
